How does monetization work on Meta platforms?
Meta for Creators offers various tools to help you earn money on Facebook and Instagram. A logical step, really, since this has long been standard practice on YouTube. For a long time, it was up to businesses and influencers to forge deals outside of the platform on Facebook and Instagram. These new tools are changing that.
Who can make money with Facebook and Instagram?
Of course, certain restrictions and rules have been mobile database put in place to ensure that the new features contribute to Meta’s goals. And that they cannot, or at least cannot easily, be abused.
To be eligible for monetization, you must meet Meta’s requirements . These vary slightly depending on the tool, but generally speaking, the most important requirements are that your account has been active for more than 30 days and that you adhere to the community standards and game and payment rules.
Additionally, it’s important that you share authentic, original content and that any payments you receive are linked to that content and made by real people. This prevents abuse involving scripts or agencies with fake accounts.

What are the options to make money on Facebook?
Accounts that post a lot of long videos on Facebook are eligible to earn money by placing ads in these videos. To qualify, these accounts must have more than 10,000 followers and their videos must have been watched more than 600,000 minutes in the last 60 days. This includes on-demand and live videos, or recordings of live sessions, but excludes cross-posted, boosted, or paid video views. You must also have more than five live videos on your account.
To qualify, you must be approved as a creator
You can easily check this via Meta for Creators , where you can sign up for the various tools. As an approved creator, you can then—just like on YouTube—choose which videos to place ads in and where they should be placed. Think of pre-roll (before the video starts), mid-roll (in the middle of the video), or photo ads (usually below the videos).
