Column – All those new social apps like Clubhouse and TikTok are great, but give me Twitter. Have I gone crazy? Absolutely not! Twitter is the pub that’s had the same interior for 15 years, but I still much prefer it to all those trendy cocktail bars. You just have to see the possibilities.
New features Twitter
Twitter just announced that it will be launching several new features (this year, perhaps). Rumors have been circulating for a while, but now it seems to be more concrete. One of those new features is Super Follow . For a monthly fee, Twitter users can follow their favorite accounts and gain certain privileges. Think access to exclusive content and the ability to subscribe to newsletters that are only available to paying followers. This subscription also includes access to a community and special deals and discounts. As a Super Follower, you’ll receive a supporter badge on your account.
In addition, it will soon be possible (no date has been mobile database announced yet) to place certain content behind a paywall. This primarily concerns tweets, but also chats that can be organized in Clubhouse rival Spaces. Twitter also announced Communities . This feature is intended to compete with Facebook Groups.
All these new features fit into
Twitter’s plans to double its revenue by 2023. And after hearing about these new features, I immediately thought, “No… Just stay who you are, Twitter.”
Why Twitter is (still) more fun than the rest
Luckily, no release date for the new features has been announced yet, so for now, I’m still enjoying Twitter as it is. Call me old-fashioned and out of touch with the times, but I like Twitter just the way it is and I get a lot out of it every day. I’d love to take you into my Twitter world, and who knows, I might even inspire you to dust off your account and get active.
